Love to Hatred Turned: Scene 33
On the Tuesday of the following week, Jen picked Sean up from work as usual.
“I think I’m coming down with something. I’ve had a headache all morning and feel a bit queasy. You don’t have any symptoms like that, do you?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“I think I’ll take some painkillers when I get home and maybe lie down for a while to at least kick the headache. You’ll have to make your own lunch.”
Back at home, Jen did exactly that, napping in her darkened room. When she woke up, she felt better, so carried on with her afternoon. However, the next day was similar. She felt fine when she got up, but throughout the morning at work, she felt progressively worse.
“It’s so weird.” She was explaining all this to Sean as she drove him to the hospital for a therapy appointment. He shrugged, but offered no response.
After the appointment, he was starving, so asked if they could stop for burgers on the way home. Jen wasn’t hungry, but agreed to find somewhere so that he could grab a bite. However, when they pulled into the parking lot, the smell of grease turned her stomach, also producing a sharp pain there.
“I’m not coming in, Sean. You’re on your own.”
“Well, if you don’t want anything, why not just go through the drive-thru? I can…
